Why Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology (Jyotisha) is one of the oldest continuously practised sciences in the world, with an unbroken tradition spanning over 5,000 years. Unlike Western astrology, which uses the tropical zodiac, the Vedic system tracks the actual positions of stars in the sky — the sidereal zodiac — giving it a unique precision and depth.

At its core, Vedic Astrology is a tool for self-knowledge. It reveals the patterns of karma, time cycles (Dasas) and planetary influences that shape your life — not to impose fate, but to illuminate your path and help you make better choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vedic Astrology?
Vedic Astrology (Jyotisha) is the ancient Indian system of astrology based on the sidereal zodiac — the actual positions of stars as seen in the sky. With roots in Sanskrit texts over 5,000 years old, it provides insights into personality, relationships, health, karma and destiny.
How is Vedic different from Western Astrology?
The key difference is the zodiac. Vedic Astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, anchored to the actual star constellations, while Western Astrology uses the tropical zodiac, anchored to the seasons. Due to the Earth’s axial precession, there is now a difference of about 23–24 degrees between the two — roughly one entire zodiac sign.
What is a Panchangam?
Panchangam is the Vedic daily almanac. The name means “five limbs”: Vara (weekday), Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga (luni-solar combination) and Karana (half-day). Together they determine the quality of any moment for rituals, ceremonies and important decisions.
What is Muhurtha, and why does it matter?
Muhurtha is Vedic electional astrology — the art of choosing the most auspicious date and time to begin an important activity. Whether it’s a wedding, new business, housewarming, travel or the first day of school, starting at the right Muhurtha is believed to set a harmonious and successful tone for the entire endeavour.
What is a Tithi?
A Tithi is a lunar day, defined as every 12 degrees of angular separation between the Sun and Moon. There are 30 Tithis in a lunar month — 15 in the waxing Shukla Paksha and 15 in the waning Krishna Paksha. Each Tithi has a ruling deity (Nithya Devi), a quality classification and specific guidance for worship and activity.
How does the Numerology calculator work?
Our calculator reduces your full name to a Destiny number and your birth date to a Life Path number using Chaldean and Pythagorean systems. It also performs a Kabbalistic analysis that assigns numerical values to each letter in your name to reveal deeper character traits and spiritual qualities.
